ABOUT ME
How I became a mindfulness coach
I am trained and licensed as an attorney. When I began practicing business litigation I enjoyed it, but after years of working long hours and spending whatever little time was left over to be with my children and husband, I realized I was stressed – and anxious. A close friend recommended I try mindfulness meditation as a way to reduce stress and feel a greater sense of calm. In 2002, I began working with a mindfulness teacher who taught me the basics. At that time, most people had never heard about mindfulness meditation and if they had it would typically lead to a lot of eye-rolling. I wasn’t deterred. It took a little while to begin to feel the benefits, but after not too long I knew I had found something to support me during times of stress, help me to be present for happy moments – or support me regardless of what was happening. I spent time at meditation retreats and learning from a variety of teachers. At some point I knew I wanted to share this tool – this practice with others.
I obtained training to teach mindfulness meditation through the Residential Training Retreat for Professionals, taught by Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli of the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness (CFM) as well as the CFM’s Practicum in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program. I also received training to teach mindfulness meditation to teens and children.
In 2009, I founded Mindfultime, South Miami, Florida’s first space dedicated solely to instruction and practice of mindfulness meditation. In 2020, during the pandemic, I moved all of my teaching online. It worked so well and removed the stress of driving, traffic and parking for my clients, that now I exclusively offer my teaching online.
I have given mindfulness instruction to thousands of individuals, either individually or through the businesses and organizations I have worked with. Here is sampling of some of the groups I have worked with:
